If you sign up for the Friday letter
We store your email address, the date, and the page you signed up from, in a database on Cloudflare (the company that hosts this site). We use it only to send the Friday letter. We never sell it or share it for anyone else's mail. Every letter has a one-click unsubscribe.
Before the first letter goes out, we'll name the service that sends it here.
When you read the site
- Page-view counts: we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits and page speed without cookies and without tracking you across other sites.
- Server logs: like any host, Cloudflare handles the network requests that deliver these pages, and keeps its own short-lived logs.
- The signup prompt: if you click "No thanks" on the small Friday letter prompt, or sign up, your browser remembers that for 30 days so it stops asking. That note stays in your browser; we never see it.
- We set no cookies, and there are no ads and no fingerprinting.
